"So, What Are You Saying? That My Preconceived Notions About What It Means to Be a Villager Were Wrong?"

Here's a bit of an insight into the creative process, though not too much of an insight as I honestly have no idea where the idea came from in the first place:

Michael J. Earnshaw says:
help me think up a rap that involves the phrase "writin' poems like edward estlin"
★ the third world wonder. says:
k
Michael J. Earnshaw says:
what rhymes with estlin?
★ the third world wonder. says:
nothing that rhymes too well
★ the third world wonder. says:
"therein"
Michael J. Earnshaw says:
i thought you were good at writing raps
★ the third world wonder. says:
"best in"
★ the third world wonder. says:
haha
Michael J. Earnshaw says:
best in
Michael J. Earnshaw says:
thats a good one
Michael J. Earnshaw says:
can't be no doubt that i'm the best in the field of writing poems like my name was edward estlin
Michael J. Earnshaw says:
laff
★ the third world wonder. says:
word

So yeah, here's the resultant rap, with props to Big D for the "best in/Estlin" rhyme. Make sure you read it to yourself with a rap delivery.

MC: ... I'm gonna lay down the law
And let you listen to a verse from big Mic Earnshaw,
(BIG M!)
TOGETHER: BIG M!*
MIC: (BIG M), rockin' it, spittin', livin' for the stage,
Essay writin', fightin' to control my rage,
And set it down clear on the face of the page,
'Cause there can be no doubt that I'm the best in
The field of writin' poems like my name was Edward Estlin
Cummings, runnin' my mouth, mic in my hand,
With a pencil and a notepad or maybe a pen,
Extemporaneous, spontaneous with rhythm and rhyme,
I'm droppin' ill experiments in diction and time,
And brand new styles, lovin' life now that I'm done,
With this high school sh-- and I'm movin' on,
Word.

Good night, everybody!

P.S.: Read my new poem, and comment, prease.

P.P.S.: Just so you know, my typical creative process doesn't contain a conversation with Darrell, although after he was such a help, I may make sure to include one in the future, particularly for raps and screenplays, 'cause I know he loves movies.

* You know what they do there, the rap thing where the backup guy shouts a lyric in unison with the lead guy while he's rapping.
