Baby, It's Cold Outside

Got my vote on and it was very cold out, so we need a cold song. In fact, it's another Bob Dylan song; how can a man be such a good songwriter and such a terrible musical performer?

Girl of The North Country
Rocky Mountain Bluegrass Festival, Lyons, CO
24 July 2004
Chris Thile (mandolin) & Sam Bush (mandolin/vocals)

If you're travelin' in the north country fair,
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline,
Remember me to the one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.

If you're goin' when the snowflake storms,
Where the rivers freeze and the summer ends,
See for me if she wears a coat so warm,
To keep her from the howlin' winds.

Please see if her hair hangs so long,
Rolls and flows all around her breast.
See for me if her hair hangs long.
That's the way I remember her best.

(spoken) How you feelin', Chris? (And nice long solos from Chris, then Sam.)

I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all.
Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night,
In the brightness of my day.

So if you're travelin' in the north country fair,

Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline,
Remember me to the one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine,
Love of mine,
Love of mine,
True love of mine,
Love of mine,
Love that girl.

(spoken) My wife, she's from way up in the north country. She's from way up in Louisville.

And then a nice instrumental finale. A simple song, but nice to listen to.

Also, I've recently had this bit of dialogue from Blazing Saddles in my head:

BART: Are we awake?
JIM: We're not sure. Are we...black?
BART: Yes, we are.
JIM: Then we're awake...but we're very puzzled.
